Monthly Update – April 2023

Happy April! And a happy belated First Contact Day! For those that have been keeping up with it, this week will be the exciting conclusion to Star Trek: Picard! You’ve all been doing great, but just as a reminder please keep all spoiler discussion to the Picard post in the #Star-Trek forum. I don’t think there have been any spoiler incidents here, but with just one more episode left, let’s keep that up. I don’t have a lot of business for this month, so let’s get to it.

March was an exciting month for new sims joining Division 74! First off we have “Haven”, aka Ridgehaven Manor, a school for the gifted founded under the leadership of headmaster Duke Drake, @navy_vet.

Ridgehaven Manor was built in 1801, it was an early cotton and sugarcane producer. During the Civil War the Ridgehaven Manor was used as a stop along the Underground Railroad for fleeing slaves. The Ridgehaven fell into disrepair in the 1970’s and 1980’s when real estate around New Orleans boomed it was forgotten. In January 1992 Dr. Drake purchased the Manor and restored it to its former glory while adding some new Underground features. With the Civil unrest and hatred towards mutants RidgeHaven has once again become a safe place for the downtrodden and oppressed.

We have one anniversary to celebrate from March. On March 1, the USS Tomcat, under the command of Fleet Captain Jasmine Lynee Somers, Paul73, celebrated their 10th anniversary! Congratulations to Captain Somers and the crew of the Tomcat on this major achievement!

Also in D74, we have Pegasus Falls, a Dungeon and Dragons themed game led by Dungeon Master @Taral!

The Kingdom of Pegasus Falls has been standing for nearly 3,500 years. It rose from the ashes of the last great war against the Dread Lords, warrior-kings whose magic was fueled by the most evil of archdemons. The citizens of the continent of Estrium, both magical and mundane, fought off the armies of the Dread Lords, defeating them totally. In the intervening millennia, wildlife and civilization have covered over the ruins of the Dread Lords’ empire, but their influence can still be felt. Long lost artifacts containing their eldritch power still corrupt the corruptible, despite the best efforts of the Royal Guard.

In the town of Fairfell, many miles from anything important, unlawful activity has caused the Town Guard to post a sign on the town square notice board. They are seeking adventurers to assist them with their problem.

And rounding out the list is Grace Point, a modern day arcana themed game led by our very own @Cipher!

Welcome now to Grace Point, a sprawling coastal city. For the most part, its denizens go about their lives for better or worse. But what makes it a little bit different here is the city has always had a history of attracting more than its fair share of problems. On the surface, it’s things like an over-extended and under-funded police force, half the city’s elected officials are in the pocket of a corporation or old money and the other half are the corporations or old money. But every once in a while, something big happens and gets covered up…

Because GPD is stretched far past its breaking point, it’s no surprise that private security has become a major player. Corporate security and private military contractors tend to be a common sight around the big money in Grace Point, but it’s also given rise to smaller groups who act as troubleshooters for those who can’t afford a PMC. It’s also given rise to criminal gangs and organizations thought to be a thing of the past in big cities like this, as well.

We focus on one such group of troubleshooters – people with the skills they’ve developed in whatever previous line of work to help out and make Grace Point less miserable than it currently is. It may be something small like helping a family that ran afoul of a criminal group for no other reason than they were in the wrong place at the wrong time to big jobs that could be dealing with someone who has goals far beyond this mortal realm.

Time to go to work.

Please give a warm welcome to our newest sims, and newest CO!

I’d like to announce the monthly award winners. We weren’t able to get the February winners in time for the March meeting, so I’ll start with those.

Memory Lane” by Lt Commander Ebrin Valek, Captain Abigail Laurens, and Commander Ichiko Gail

Next up is our March winners for Sim of the Month.

Congratulations to all of our winners!

As always, Live Long and Prosper!
